About Us – Family Life Symposium

Mission:  To support families and children in the Bartlesville area through quality training aimed at strengthening relational skills.

Founding:  The Family Life Symposium (FLS) of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, was established in 1988 as a result of the suicide death of Eric Krase.  His parents, Larry and Carolee Krase (pronounced Cross), in partnership with First Presbyterian Church of Bartlesville, created a memorial fund to ensure ongoing Symposiums as a means to educate and support families.

Symposiums:  Family Life Symposiums feature experts who deliver training designed for parents, grandparents, counselors, educators, social service workers, health care workers, ministers and community members.  Expert speakers are selected based on several criteria:  (1) topic matches the mission, (2) expert is recommended by a FLS Planning Committee member, (3) affordability, and (4) availability.

Symposium Funding:  The Eric Krase Memorial Fund is administered by First Presbyterian Church of Bartlesville, a 501c3 organization.  While this memorial fund produces interest that contributes to funding Symposiums, it represents a portion of the expenses.  Attendees at the Friday workshops pay a nominal registration fee which also covers a small part of the expenses.  The remainder of the money required to cover Symposium expenses comes from donations.  Donations are tax-deductible when made out to Bartlesville Community Foundation and marked Family Life Symposium.
